Can you live without your phone?
Proma Nautiyal
Hey there,
How have you been? I hope you had a great Monday.
I sure did. Especially, because my phone wasn’t there to wake me up yesterday. So I slept in for an extra 45 minutes, woke up, and didn’t stare into the 4.7 inch screen to start with.
Instead, I spent the next few hours soaking in the world around me to bits.
Did I miss work calls?
Yes, I did.
Did I miss tons of notifications?
Oh yes, totally.
Did I log into my social media handles through the browser to check the notifications and the messages?
Absolutely!
But not before I had spent a substantial amount of time being aware of each and every moment around me.
Not having the device around was liberating. I didn’t miss it for a moment but I did become aware of everything else I was missing out on while trying to keep my digital avatar up and ahead.
Things like spotting the rogue pigeon that had actually been causing havoc in the garden. Saying hello to my next door neighbour while picking up the veggies at the doorstep. Watching the gardener tend to the plants, and the kids singing rhymes while dipping their tiny feet into the cold water in the fountain.
I even put my Kindle away today. In fact, I was planning to leave my phone somewhere every Saturday, so I can have a “no phone Sunday.”
Nah…kidding.
But yes, I would actually consider a Digital Detox.
Would you be up for trying this? Or have you already been on a forced phone detox that you actually ended up enjoying? Do tweet out this post with your thoughts on this. Would love to hear from you.
Until next time keep your phones close but your sanity closer.
Have a blessed week ahead,
Proma
