Santa Claus is coming to town 🎅🏻🎁

But before that there's Thanksgiving, and Black Friday, and Cyber Monday...

Hey there 👋🏼

You can never be too early when it comes to marketing. There’s always a mad rush with the creatives and launches. And it’s better to have everything in check a month in advance (2 months doesn’t sound bad to us agencies).

So, this week we are going to do a nosedive into how you can prepare for the holiday season in advance. If you are a marketer, here are the talking points you need to convince your client/boss as to why you should start brainstorming offers and creatives now, if you are a founder, get in touch with me. JK.

You can take notes from this issue, but of course, I am always an email away for all things marketing.

So let’s dive in.

Here are the special days in November for which you should either have a clear launch or sale plan. If you miss out on this, you can wait another 365 days (only) to get your hands on the biggest revenue opportunity ever!

  • Black Friday: The biggest shopping day of the year, so you'll want to offer some great deals to attract customers. Consider offering deep discounts on select items, free shipping, or gift cards with purchases. You can also run a giveaway or contest to generate excitement.

  • Cyber Monday: This is the day after Black Friday, and it's also a great opportunity to offer deals. Since many people will be shopping online on Cyber Monday, you can focus on digital marketing campaigns to reach your target audience. [SaaS Founders - this one’s especially for you]

  • Thanksgiving: The time for family and friends to come together to express their heartfelt gratitude over, turkey roast or vegan chicken, so you can offer deals that encourage people to buy gifts for their loved ones. Consider offering a buy-one-get-one-free promotion or a gift with every purchase.

  • Small Business Saturday: This is a day dedicated to supporting small businesses, so you can offer special discounts to customers who shop with you. You can also partner with other local businesses to offer a joint promotion. [Again, a SaaS-special day especially the ones that cater to small businesses]

  • Cyber Week: This is the week leading up to Cyber Monday, and it's a great time to offer extended sales. You can also run a flash sale or a countdown to Cyber Monday to build excitement.

Now, here are a few things to consider while strategizing your November campaigns (and you’ll see why these 6 weeks will soon seem super short):

  • Research your target audience. Who are you trying to reach with your promotions? What are their needs and wants?

  • Set your goals. What do you want to achieve with your promotions? Do you want to increase sales, generate leads, or build brand awareness?

  • Brainstorm ideas. What kind of promotions can you offer that will appeal to your target audience and help you achieve your goals?

  • Create a budget. How much money are you willing to spend on your promotions?

  • Start marketing your promotions. Let your target audience know about your promotions through email, social media, and other channels.

Don’t think that your general set of audience will be your only TG for these sale events. You need to think big and also figure out what your competitors might be up to.

Come up with fresh ideas so your promotions don’t end up in “how not to do email marketing” carousel posts of LinkedIn copywriters.

Finally, don’t treat this as a one-and-done kind of sale. Optimize it by offering year-round promotions, like:

  • Free shipping: to increase sales

  • Gift cards: to encourage repeat purchases

  • Loyalty programs: for repeat business

  • Referral programs: to keep the sales pipeline full

  • Discounts for students, seniors, or military personnel: These discounts can help you reach a wider audience.

I hope I have given you enough material to get started with your campaigns and promotions for November.
