Settle in for this one
Hey there,
Hope you have been doing great. I have been off the grid for a while cause I have been traveling and exploring a new country and also doing some deep work at DigiWitch.
For the ones who don’t know yet, DigiWitch is a content marketing agency that I have been running for the past 6 years now.
My journey as a marketer started as a freelancer. A freelance writer, copywriter, and content marketer to be precise. Just to clarify, I have been a finance student all through my life but found my calling in marketing.
Marketing continues to be a more human aspect than something that can be solely measured in numbers. Something as stoic as finance, too, responds so much to emotions. I am talking about the stock market.
You can never really discount emotions, you see. And when you are marketer, you should not only gauge the emotions but feel it while writing copy, churning out creatives, setting up campaigns. YOU need to be the TG. YOU need to walk in their shoes and look at that ad, not as the creator but as the receiver or viewer.
Often we tend to fall in love with our creations and are blind to what’s lacking in them. It happens, it’s human. But as an ace marketer, you need to surpass these emotions and be empathetic. You should have the guts to call a spade a spade and if need be, throw out hours of work to start from scratch. A wrong ad/creative/message that goes out can cost you more than the hours you spend redoing the task.
All I want to say is: when creating something, think like your customer. Not as a product owner. Not as a marketer.
That’s it from me this week.
Until next time, stay well and stay safe,
Proma
