Social Media Updates This Week
Your workspace is sacred and it needs a sacred schedule...

In this issue:
1. What’s happening in the world of social media that you should absolutely know
2. Featured resources this week
3. Must read articles that will add an edge to your career and brand
Hey there, 👋🏼
Happy New Year to you! This is my first letter out to you this year and I have every intention to make it special.
So before we dive into the updates, I would like to highlight the top digital marketing trends to watch out for this 2026:
1. AI stops being a tool and becomes infrastructure.
Not a shiny add-on. Not a hack. AI will sit underneath strategy, creative, targeting, and optimization. The brands that win won’t “use AI”; they’ll design systems around it.
2. Personalisation shifts from surface-level to behavioral.
It’s no longer about names in subject lines. It’s about predicting intent before someone can articulate it. Brands will respond to behavior, not declarations.
3. Search and social continue to merge.
Discovery now looks like curiosity, not keywords. Content that answers questions, solves friction, or shortens decision-making will outperform content chasing trends.
4. Video becomes the default language.
Not because it’s trendy, but because it compresses time. Short-form, long-form, shoppable, educational, video will do the heavy lifting across the funnel.
5. Trust becomes the real conversion metric.
With AI content everywhere and ads feeling interchangeable, credibility will matter more than creativity. Proof, transparency, and consistency will do what hype no longer can.
6. Automation gets quieter and more human.
The best automations won’t feel automated at all. They’ll feel intuitive, well-timed, and almost invisible, especially in email, CRM, and lead nurturing.
7. Brands move from campaigns to ecosystems.
One-off launches will give way to interconnected experiences. Content, community, product, and distribution will finally start working together.
So here’s takeaway
2026 won’t reward marketers who chase every new feature. It will reward those who simplify, integrate, and design for how people actually decide.
✅ Less noise.
✅ More precision.
✅ Fewer tricks.
✅ Better systems.
Yes, work IS going to get heavier for marketers. But isn’t change what we built for?
Now hopping on to social media updates to watch out for:
Reddit Launches AI-Powered “Max Campaigns”
Reddit has introduced AI-powered Max Campaigns, a new ad option designed to simplify campaign setup and improve performance through automation.
With Max Campaigns, Reddit’s AI handles targeting, placement, and optimization across its platform, aiming to help advertisers reach relevant communities with minimal manual input.
The update is part of Reddit’s broader push to make its ad tools more accessible to performance marketers, while leveraging the platform’s intent-rich conversations for more effective ad delivery.
WhatsApp Adds Group Role Tags and Word Stickers
WhatsApp is rolling out group chat role tags and word stickers to improve clarity and expression in group conversations.
Role tags allow admins to label members based on function, helping reduce confusion in larger or more active groups, while word stickers turn text into more visually expressive elements.
The update signals WhatsApp’s continued shift toward more structured group communication, especially for communities, cohorts, and business use cases.
X Restricts Grok-Generated Nude Images
X has introduced new restrictions on AI-generated nude images created via its in-app AI tool, Grok.
The update limits the generation and sharing of certain explicit AI images, with a focus on preventing misuse, including non-consensual and deceptive content.
The move reflects growing platform-level controls around generative AI, as social apps look to reduce legal and reputational risk tied to AI-created imagery.
Meta says that it’s retiring these options because their usage “has naturally declined as the digital landscape has evolved.”
