The Universe has a message for you

Are you ready for it?

Hey there 👋🏼

I am writing this week’s newsletter at precisely 3:57 a.m. Friday morning.

Yes, I woke up from my sleep and decided, I needed to do this. The reason I couldn’t write this earlier is because I was on vacation, visiting Blackforest in Germany, which lies at the heart of nature and the home to the famed Blackforest cakes, cuckoo clocks, and of course all the fairy tales we grew up reading.

But once I was back, I started seeing a distinct message showing up across all communication I was receiving across channels. Emails, newsletters, social media posts, and reels. The message was the same and consistent. Be yourself. Share what you want to, the algorithm does not dictate who you are.

Now the thing about these messages is something unique. If you listen to your heart close enough (HEART, not mind) you will pick up on signals much like Winona Ryder in Stranger Things. Except, these messages are usually not scary.

If you are not high on manifestation and the universe sending you messages, then well, you should be. It does not matter if you are a content creator, marketer, or a founder. This rule applies to everyone.

I would strongly recommend the book Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert.

Now I will tell you why.

There are a ton of things Liz Gilbert talks about creativity in her book. This does not only apply to writing a book but also to innovations, ideas, and the genesis of new beginnings. She shares where creativity is sourced from, where fresh ideas actually come from, and how you hold on to them and execute them while there is still time.

I will share the top 3 magical takeaways from her book:

  1. Courage: Gilbert argues that creativity requires courage, both to face our fears and to take risks. She encourages us to embrace our inner "weirdo" and to follow our own unique creative path.

  2. Enchantment: Gilbert believes that creativity is a form of magic, and she encourages us to be open to the "enchantment" of the creative process. She shares stories of her own experiences with serendipity and synchronicity, and she shows how these experiences can help us to connect with our creative selves.

  3. Divinity: Gilbert believes that creativity is a divine gift. She encourages us to see ourselves as co-creators with the universe and to celebrate the beauty of our own creative expression.

The way I see it:

  • Creativity is a muscle that needs to be exercised. The more we create, the easier it becomes.

  • Fear is the enemy of creativity. We need to be willing to face our fears in order to be truly creative.

  • The creative process is a mystery. We don't always know where our ideas come from or how they will manifest themselves.

  • The most important thing is to just start creating. Don't worry about being perfect or being judged. Just let the creativity flow through you.

Fear of what people we think, that we will be judged, and that our message might fall flat on others’ ears are not only detrimental to our craft but also to our growth.

The message I spoke about at the beginning of the newsletter has been very clear: Be yourself, show up, and things will be fine.

If your inner creative element is burning like wildfire, no algorithm in the world can keep your message from spreading further. Release yourself from the trappings of a broken recorder and have the courage to show people the real you.

That is what creativity is: embracing your truth.

I hope you enjoyed this week’s newsletter. Stay tuned for more and do send me topics you’d like me to write about specifically by replying to this email.

It’s always such a pleasure to be able to connect with you like this every week.

Have a fantastic weekend ahead!

Stay creative,
